Service Projects

Altrusa is a service organization.  Our signature project is the ABC Literacy Program - from October to May, we read to kindergarten classes and give away brand new FOREVER books to Greater Portland Kindergarten Students. They get to take these books home.  We also donate and prepare monthly dinners for families staying at Ronald MacDonald House. In the Spring and Fall, we help out with gardening at the Barron Center. See more service activities listed below.

Come to one of our meetings to find out about more of the service projects that we are involved with. Everyone is welcome to volunteer with us. Altrusa membership is not required.

Other service activities include:

ABC Literacy - Reading to kindergartners in Portland, S. Portland, Westbrook & Windham Schools; Books to Kindergartens in Buxton and Lakes Region
